System Engineer / System Administrator (In-house role)

Our client, established in 1990 as an independent statutory body to provide authoritative advice on academic standards of degree programmes in higher education institutions in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot office systems and meeting rooms to ensure continuous availability and meet internal business needs
• Conduct periodic error log checks and reporting for servers and network equipment
• Perform regular virus checks and ensure anti-virus software is up to date
• Administer systems on Microsoft Windows, VMware/Sangfor, Firewall, and Linux platforms
• Deploy Microsoft security patches and service packs as required
• Schedule and monitor server backups to ensure data integrity and availability
• Carry out security operations, including system security reviews, user profile management, and password resets
• Install and configure desktop and laptop computers according to corporate IT standards
• Conduct software license checks and routine health checks (including PC audits) for desktops, laptops, and servers
• Prepare sites for annual disaster recovery (DR) drills, including restoring server and desktop images and setting up network connections
• Provide on-call or offsite support outside regular office hours to meet business availability requirements.
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirement

• Possess at least a High Diploma comparable to HKQF Level 4 in Computer Science / Information Technology in Network / Database / Security or equivalent
• Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills with technical proficiency in Microsoft 365, VMWare, Veeam backup, active directory, and basic networking
• Proficient in the installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of mainstream operating systems (e.g., Windows, VMWare, Veeam backup & MS Exchange)
• Proven track record of delivering high quality projects and assignments
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills; able to analyse complex data, identify core issues, investigate, evaluate, and recommend appropriate solutions
• Highly motivated and able to work independently
• Relevant IT certifications and knowledge of AI tools (e.g., Copilot) will be an added advantage
