System Engineer (Ref. No.: AiDLab/RP3-2/R087)

[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project – “Intelligent Fashion Aesthetic Evaluation System”.

The appointee will be required to:

a) monitor the daily operation and provide system maintenance service (including development environment, testing environment, and business environment), as well as timely solve problems happened in the system

b) analyse potential problems of the system, prepare problem analysis reports and improvement plans

c) communicate with system developers promptly to reflect the system problems

d) respond promptly to user enquiries

e) provide training to system users and assist the research team to carry out testing tasks

f) document system failure records with analysis, and maintenance record as required

g) carry out daily data backup and archiving

h) implement and release updated version of system

i) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer related disciplines with three or more years of relevant working experience.

Applicants should also:

a) be familiar with

i. Linux system management

ii. optimization techniques of load balancing such as Nginx, LVS, KeepLive, etc.

iii. Linux platforms, such as Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, etc.

iv. AWS or Tencent Cloud, or Alibaba Cloud-related products and services

v. MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis performance tuning, data backup, and disaster recovery solutions

vi. layout and tuning of SpringCloud, Hadoop, hdfs, hive, spark, hbase, ES, kafka

vii. Nagios, jerkins, docker, K8S

viii. Bash shell and Python scripting languages

ix. server deployment, system resource scheduling, network traffic, and exception monitoring, firewall technology

x. system security operation and problem solving

b) have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong sense of responsibility.
