Sport Products Merchandiser

We are inviting merchandising expert to join our Sourcing team in Hong Kong. This position involves identifying new vendors, negotiating with our current supply chain, and discovering cost-saving opportunities, particularly in the helmets and ski goggles product category. Experience with sports products, such as bike, snow helmets and ski goggles, is crucial for success in this role, as it will provide valuable insights into market trends and customer needs. We seek an individual with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, who is eager to grow, take on new responsibilities, and establish themselves within the team.

In reporting operationally to the Senior Manager Purchasing Asian Finished Products and functionally to The Smith Associate Director Supply chain, the merchandiser has the following responsibilities and duties:

• Scout new suppliers
• Judge and assess the quotations from the suppliers (new models, new colors, carryover styles, etc.) and arrange the costs comparison for Manager evaluation, with a cost breakdown basis
• Handle the negotiation with the suppliers
• Manage RFQ processes for finish products and materials
• Follow up additional saving activities assigned
• Find and propose new saving opportunities working closely with the Product team and suppliers
• Daily communication with the Product team and other teams providing quotations in different stages of development and/or assignment, explanation, or any other guidelines
• Connect with supply chain team for the update of PO prices when need to change
• Support the supply chain team to verify and resolve eventual discrepancy between the price claimed by supplier (invoice price) and price in our system/PO
• Accomplish master data tasks in the ERP system (example info-record, source list, vendor management)
• Integrate with PD to acquire the knowledge on the product features

• Ad hoc business analysis and procurement tasks upon specific request by the Manager

Job Requirement:

• Preferable study in Business / Accounting / Finance
• Minimum one year of costing experience, preferably with knowledge of helmets and ski category
• Capability to be analytic with cost breakdown basis
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat are required
• Proven experience to be able to work with vendors independently
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills
• Fluent English
• Other Asian languages are a plus (Cantonese and/or Mandarin)
• Capable to deal with tight schedules

• Based in Hong Kong and need to travel to PRC
