Job Description
Job responsibilities:

Promote acceptance and inclusion of students with learning needs in the classroom and in all areas of school life.

Assist students on an individual or small group basis in specific learning areas, under the direction of the Head of Learning Support, Deputy Heads and subject teachers.

Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students, in line with their specific needs and curriculum requirements
-
Collaborate subject teachers in lesson planning, differentiation and in the preparation of student resources.
-
Provide push-ins support for caseload of SEN students in mainstream classrooms
-
Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem, confidence, and independence
-
Assist with the communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instructions
-
Participate in team meetings and Continuing Professional Development courses.

Assist with the supervision of students in the school grounds, at camps, on excursions, in sporting activities, therapy activities and life skills.

Observe students and inform when necessary
-
Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluation of individual student involvement and achievement.

Maintain documented records of student progress, observations, and areas for improvement; communicate case notes to the Learning Support team.

Establish positive and professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues to ensure good communication and effective working practices.

Action other duties as directed by the Head of Learning Support, Vice Principal or Principal
Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Education or a relevant area)
-
Minimum of two years’ experience of working with students with SEN
-
Have knowledge of different learning styles and strategies to support students with diverse needs
-
Ability to build rapport with students aged 11-18
-
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
-
Accountable, flexible, dynamic, displaying a can-do attitude and the ability to proactively propose solutions when facing issues
