Job Title: Senior Manager or Director of Human Resources
Job Purpose: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for formulating and implementing the HR strategic plan to ensure that the school attracts and retain high calibre staff and an aligned and engaged workforce. The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to, oversight of recruitment of Teaching Staff and Educational Support Staff, leading the Compensation and Benefits Programme, Employee Relations and Wellbeing and management of the HRIS.
Job Description
The specific aims and key responsibilities of this position are:
· Developing HR strategies in conjunction with the vision, mission and values of the school.
· Developing and implementing HR strategies, policies and procedures to maintain a sustainable, productive and engaged workforce
· Building the YK Pao Hong Kong employer brand and achieving the school’s aim of becoming a leading school in Hong Kong.
· Working with the SLT to develop and implement policies and practices to
achieve the school’s goals and objectives
· Working with all stakeholders, including staff, to communicate the objectives of HR strategies
Leading and managing staffing plan and talent acquisition by:
• Establish effective recruitment channels
• Retaining talented staff through developing an efficient and transparent compensation and benefits plan
• In liaison with the Principal, design and launch the staff professional development programme with a focus on professional wellbeing
• Overseeing staffing and personnel costs according to the school’s development plan
Formulating and implementing compensation and benefits strategies by:
• Making recommendations for compensation and benefits.
• Conducting market benchmarking survey, develop and recommend compensation policies, procedures and practices for maintaining external competitiveness and internal equity throughout the school
Ensuring the HR policies and practices are in line with the legal regulations and local compliances by:
• Establishing and maintain regular communication with various legal authorities, including but not limited to the Education Bureau, Immigration Department and Labour Department, for better understanding of and application of legal and regulatory requirements
• Maintaining current awareness of the latest provisions within the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance
• Establishing relationships with external organisations including government offices, HR service agents and recruitment agents
• Providing professional HR advice to the SLT as required for the best interest of
the school
Overall responsibility for employee relations and employee wellbeing by:
• Overseeing the work of the Human Resources staff with responsibility for CPD, Employee Relations and Staff Wellbeing
• Providing professional guidance and support to line managers, SLT and employees and staff on matters relating to employee relations
• Managing employee grievances, disciplinary and capability processes, advising SLT as appropriate
• Leading investigations and disciplinary management of staff, ensuring accurate records of cases are kept within confidential employment files
• Providing advice, counsel and guidance to employees on relevant issues
• Staff wellbeing advocacy and acting as the first point of contact on matters relating to staff wellbeing
• Conducting regular check-ins with staff where appropriate
Leading, managing and coaching the HR Department by:
• Supervising the staff in the Human Resources department, to oversee the full human resources day-to-day operations including payroll
• Reviewing and streamlining, where necessary, the workflow regularly in order to ensure the efficiency of the department
• Overseeing the Human Resources staff to develop the HRIS
• Encouraging positive and transparent communication within the HR function.

Qualifications:
• Degree or above in relevant discipline
• Evidence of further relevant professional development
Skills:
• High proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• An efficient and courteous manner with an ability to deal with key stakeholders and staff at all levels
Experience:
• Proven knowledge and experience of the HR function; experience in the education sector desired
• A clear demonstration of progressive responsible management and leadership experience, with skill
in program development and execution
Knowledge:
• Good knowledge of HR practices, employment ordinance and other HR related legislations
Personal Qualities:
• 5 years+ of HR managerial experience in the international school industry, with a preference for internal school experience.
• High levels of personal and professional integrity
• Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
• Sound judgement and the ability to take difficult decisions to resolve issues, especially when under pressure
• Customer-oriented and a professional approach to internal and external stakeholders at all times
• Personal warmth to engage positively and gain confidence of pupils, staff and parents
