Research Assistant (Ref. No.: AiDLab/RP3-5/R093)

[Appointment period: 6-12months]

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project – “Intelligent textile design for interiors and fashion”. The project focuses on the design and development of intelligent textiles for applications in adaptive environments and wearables. Appointees will be part of a dynamic design team developing technology integrated materials for intuitive environments and wearables.

The applicants are required to:

(a) Conduct experiments developing novel knitted, woven, printed and embroidered textiles incorporating components.

(b) Assist on conducting basic literature research.

(c) Assist in design presentations in various print and video formats.

(d) Assist in the development of smart wearables and interior products.

(e) Assist in making textile-based prototypes.

(f) To work at the main university campus and at the Hong Kong Science Park.

(g) They would be required to have a strong interest in research, material and technology experimentation, good organizational skills and possess the ability to work well as a team member and independently.

Qualifications

For the Research Assistant/ Research Associate post, applicants should:

(a) have a undergraduate degree in Fashion Design or textile technology.

(b) Have experience with smart textiles.

(c) Good knowledge and experience of knit, weave, print and embroidery techniques

(d) have a good command of English and Chinese.
