Product Manager - Localization
Job Highlight
Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Product Manager to lead the localization strategy and implementation of our educational AI products in the Hong Kong and Singapore markets. You will be responsible for deeply understanding the unique educational ecosystems, cultural habits, and user needs of both regions, transforming our core AI technology into educational products that genuinely address local user pain points and are widely welcomed. You will be the key driver for the success of our products in these two markets.
Core Responsibilities:
Market and User Insights:
- Conduct in-depth market research in Hong Kong and Singapore, engaging with frontline users (including students, parents, teachers, and school administrators) to deeply understand pain points, learning habits, curriculum systems (such as Hong Kong DSE, Singapore GCE ‘O’/‘A’ Level), and the policy environment in extracurricular training, K-12, or higher education.
- Continuously track and analyze local competitors, map the competitive landscape, and identify our differentiated opportunities.
- Become the "expert" and "voice" for the educational markets in Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore within the company, ensuring all product decisions are based on localized insights.
Product Planning and Localization Strategy:
- Develop and execute a customized product localization roadmap for the Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore markets, clearly defining priorities and release plans. Lead the localization adaptation of product features, including but not limited to: course content localization, UI/UX and language localization (Traditional Chinese, English, considering spoken habits), tuning AI models and prompts to fit the local context, and ensuring compliance with local data privacy regulations (such as Hong Kong PDPO, Singapore PDPA).
- Define key product metrics (OKRs) and continuously track product performance in local markets, driving iterative optimization based on data.
Product Execution and Lifecycle Management:
- Write detailed localization requirements documents (PRD), user stories, and prototype designs, clearly communicating with development and design teams.
- Efficiently collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, design, research, marketing, operations) to drive the product from concept to launch and to scalable growth.
- Manage the product release process, ensuring high-quality implementation and rapid iterations based on user feedback and data validation.
Cross-Department Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with local marketing and sales teams to provide core product insights for go-to-market (GTM) strategies, supporting product promotion, user acquisition, and conversion.
- Serve as a product bridge between the company and local users and partners (such as schools and educational institutions), collecting feedback and maintaining good relationships.
Requirements:
Essential Experience:
- Over 5 years of Product Manager experience, with a proven track record in localizing or building digital products (preferably educational products) for the Hong Kong or Singapore markets.
- Successful experience in user research, data analysis, and competitive analysis, capable of independently conducting market insights.
- Comprehensive project management experience, proficient in tools like Jira, Confluence, and Figma.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English (fluent required; Cantonese proficiency is a significant plus).
Core Competencies:
Strong Localization Skills: Highly sensitive to cultural differences, able to discern subtle nuances and translate them into product decisions. This is not merely a “translation” mindset.
User Insight: Strong empathy, able to think from the user's perspective and adept at distilling core needs from diverse feedback.
Data-Driven: Proficient in product data analysis, capable of using A/B testing and user behavior data to validate hypotheses and guide decisions.
Technical Understanding: A basic understanding of AI and machine learning concepts and principles, with the ability to communicate smoothly with engineers is preferred.
Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the business implications behind product decisions, with a focus on user growth, engagement, and retention.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in the education industry, familiar with the educational systems in Hong Kong or Singapore.
- Experience with AI-driven products or consumer-oriented products.
- Proficiency in Cantonese or Malay, as well as Mandarin.
- Personal experience studying, working, or living in Hong Kong or Singapore.
- Degree in Computer Science, Business, Educational Technology, or a related field.
