THE ROLE
- Work closely with the Australian buying teams to understand their product requirements and work with the internal design teams to develop new products
- Source factories and suppliers who meet our business requirements and can manufacture products to deliver better quality and value to our customers
- Manage supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance to ensure that critical path timeframes are met
- Communicate with buyers and suppliers on technical issues and problem resolution
- Develop sustainable product and packaging solutions
- Negotiate pricing and production timeframes with suppliers
- Engage with and influence all key stakeholders
- Keep up to date on trends and innovations in the market
WHO YOU ARE
Minimum 3 years' sourcing experience of general merchandise products, preferably Toys, Hard Home or Everyday products.
- Ability to operate in a fast paced culture of change
- Excellent product knowledge and understanding of relevant manufacturing processes
- Strong knowledge on sustainable product and packaging, and diversifying sourcing across different countries is preferable
- Familiar with quality standards and factory audit requirements
- Be able to demonstrate customer focus
- Strong communication skills in English and Putonghua
- Operate across product areas and multiple projects within categories whilst meeting specified timelines
- Demonstrated supply and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently with overseas buyers, suppliers and factories
- Frequent travel in mainland China and the flexibility to travel overseas if required.
