Job Description

Responsibilities:

Business Partnering and Steering:

  • Primary business partner to the local MD providing expert insights on financials, strategy, and execution
  • Deliver financial strategy and hold the business accountable by providing executive-level insight to leadership
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, sales and the line of business teams to secure the financial health of the business unit, ensuring profitable growth
  • Own the preparation and delivery of monthly business review including analyzing and identifying key drivers, risks and opportunities that can be actionable
  • Optimize performance reporting to identify opportunities for business to take action towards profit improvement, cost reduction, cash flow optimization etc.

Reporting and Closing

  • Ensure that all periodic financial reporting is on time, accurate. and is compliant with Group IFRS standards and local regulatory requirements including any relevant policy updates
  • Coordinate internal and external audits ensuring proper executive of activities and subsequent closure of findings include developing relevant controls, rules and guidelines to enhance governance and risk mitigation
  • Lead the governance framework for finance, including financial controls, SOP enforcement, compliance monitoring
  • Monitor the balance sheet accounts and ensure that proper and correct reconciliation have been implemented by Finance Factory, to provide a reliable situation of the financial statements.
  • Oversee tax topics including support Finance Factory in order to ensure a correct and timely delivery of tax submissions, escalating in case of risks for the company that require mitigation actions and playing a role in coordinating ad hoc tax audits

Operational Finance:

  • Manage a team focusing on day to day financial operations activities including premium collection/ refund, commission ,and claims payments transactions
  • Coach, develop and empower the team to ensure they are engaged, excel and upskills.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or qualified by experience in related discipline
  • Relevant professional experience in reinsurance, P&C insurance and / or asset management with hands on involvement in finance related project is preferred
  • Proven experience in planning and performance management of financials statements and respective analysis
  • Excel and PowerPoint skills to effectively analyze data and convey messages
  • Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs management view)
  • Understanding insurance financial statements and their performance measurement
  • Strong analytical skills and sensible with numbers
  • Effective Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Fluent in English with Cantonese and/or Mandarin a benefit but not required.
