Job Description

The Forecast Planning Specialist takes a pivotal role in consolidating and managing demand forecasts across markets in Asia. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure precise demand planning and optimal inventory control. Responsibilities include driving forecast accuracy, supporting Sales & Operations Planning (SOP), and optimizing inventory to achieve service targets while minimizing excess stock.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate Asia demand forecasts and coordinate forecast review sessions with global planners and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts aligned with Asia sales targets and annual business plans.
  • Work collaboratively with sales, marketing, procurement, logistics, and finance teams to incorporate market intelligence and business insights into demand planning.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly Sales Forecast Integration (SFI) or SOP meetings to align forecasts with supply plans.
  • Monitor inventory levels to optimize product availability, reduce stockouts, and manage obsolescence risk.
  • Analyse demand trends, sales performance, and external factors impacting forecast accuracy; continuously recommend improvements.
  • Support new product launches, phase-ins/outs, and supply chain adjustments by forecasting demand and identifying potential bottlenecks.
  • Handle inventory approval processes related to forecast adjustments and inventory investment requests.
  • Track and report key forecast and inventory metrics; proactively communicate forecast changes and issues to relevant teams.
  • Use forecasting software, ERP, and planning tools to generate, review, and refine demand plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in demand planning, forecasting, or Sales & Operations Planning, preferably across multiple markets. Candidates with less experience may be considered for a junior-level position.
  • Proven ability to track and analyze emerging market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior, integrating these insights into accurate demand plans.
  • Strong understanding of how forecasting impacts working capital, revenue, and profitability. Familiar with monitoring and setting forecast KPIs such as forecast bias, accuracy, and inventory turnover.
  • Apply advanced planning tools and data analytics platforms. Leverage business intelligence to analyze large data sets, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills with the ability to understand data, spot trends, and solve forecasting problems using numbers effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple stakeholders across markets.
  • Detail-oriented with a customer-centric mindset and proactive problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiencies in both English and Chinese
