Job Description
Island School is looking to appoint a part-time Educational Assistant in Japanese to support the department in preparing materials, working with small groups and providing one-on-one support to students.
This position is available starting in Mid-August.
Island School is a highly successful IB school located in the heart of Hong Kong. 1200 students aged 11 to 18 study an innovative and exciting curriculum combining our self-designed courses, the MYP, IGCSE, CP and BTEC programs. Our new campus opened in 2022 in the middle of the Hong Kong central business district. Here, facilities include a world-class sports centre, maker spaces, open classrooms and a black box theatre.
We are looking to appoint a part time Educational Assistant in Japanese for our Language Department. The Applicant is an integral part of the Japanese department who prepares exam classes for the oral exam as well as helping split all Japanese classes into Heritage and foreign language classes so enabling excellent differentiation. Applicant needs to be a Japanese native level speaker to work with our heritage students.

Job Summary
- Help support the Japanese Department

- Work with the department to prepare extra-curricular activities related to Japanese
- Working Hours: selective days during the week, around 6 hours per week
Main Accountabilities
- To prepare the years 11 and 13 with their oral exams.
- To help prepare years 10 and 12 as part of the GCSE and IB courses.
- To help the Japanese teacher in years 7 to 11 split the classes into heritage and foreign language students to enable differentiation and individualised learning.
- To help the Japanese teacher prepare resources for both the heritage and foreign language courses.
Minimum typical education
- A least 2 years GCSE (pass A-C) or equivalent in Maths and English
- At least level 2 of the English national qualifications framework
- Minimum typical experience
- Relevant experiences in schools is preferred but not essential

- High level of English
- Fluent in Japanese

Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
