Associate Professor (Music Technology)

Major Duties:

The appointed candidate is expected to contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of strategies for continuous improvement in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology and other relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants should be prominent in the music industry and able to leverage their expertise and networks in curriculum design, programme development and enhancement, delivering high-quality programmes, as well as programme promotion, and obtaining support from relevant industries by providing evidence of proactive collaboration with industry professionals, professional organisations, and other educational institutions to achieve desired outcomes.  They should also possess experience in tertiary-level teaching, including the supervision of student projects; scholarly and applied research activities; fostering a collaborative and cooperative work culture; and programme accreditation and validation processes.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree in Music, Music Studies, Music Production, Music Technology, or a relevant discipline.  The candidate should also have good professional standing with strong industry networks, achievements in professional practice and applied research activities for creative application of technology for music, preferably at national award level.  Strong leadership, management, organisational and communication skills are essential, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff members of the Department/Institute to achieve strong outcomes, and high proficiency in English and Chinese.  S/He must also fulfil one of the following criteria:

(i) mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or

(ii) received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above in which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or

(iii) have at least 3 years’ work experience in Chinese Mainland or other Putonghua- speaking countries or regions; or

(iv) achieved at least Grade B, Level 2 in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission of Language Work.

Notes:

(1) The MOI of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Technology programme is Putonghua.

(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.

(3) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

(4) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
