Electrical Specialist Engineer

Ecospace Limited, a subsidiary of Veolia Hong Kong & Macau, operates Hong Kong's only Chemical Waste Treatment Facility, managing hazardous and medical waste since 1993.  The facility ensures safe, reliable and environmentally responsible waste management.

Location: Tsing Yi

• Ensure that the power Systems in the Waste to energy business line are operated and maintained in a stable and safe way with the local teams
• Liaise with vendors, operation & maintenance team to plan & carry out routine repair and maintenance works of power system.
• Give technical advice to the management and operations team(s)
• Plan and manage high voltage maintenance and shutdowns, including isolation steps.
• Update maintenance procedures, and prepare new procedures as required
• Perform operational duties beyond office hours as required
• Need to be deeply involved in the maintenance of power system assets, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, station battery charges, etc.

The generator fleet comprises of:

• Emergency Diesel Generator; 200kW
• Emergency Diesel Generator; 750kW
• Emergency Diesel Generator; 800kW
• One Triveni steam turbo-generator

• Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
• Completion of an apprenticeship preferable
• Green Card and REW C0 & H0 are required
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in power-related engineering (particularly in high voltage power generation)
• Solid understanding of power systems/station operation
• Good command of spoken & written English & Chinese

Requirements

• Knowledge of complex control and protection scheme
• Power system planning and operation experience would be an advantage
• Working experience in high voltage system maintenance, equipment operations and troubleshooting,
• Leading skill to manage maintenance team and subcontractors to conduct various maintenance tasks
• Hands-on practice doing high voltage switching, wearing arc-flash gear, isolating systems, issuing permits, and restarting systems after maintenance.
• Experience providing after-hours technical support for power systems fault investigation and restoration.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivated, independent and able to work under pressure
