UiPath and PowerBuilder Developer

We are seeking a skilled UiPath and PowerBuilder Developer. The objective is to enable UiPath automation on the Powerbuilder apps to join our dynamic IT team at our client site, a leading local higher education institution committed to fostering innovation in academic and administrative systems. In this role, you will provide dedicated support for our legacy and modernized applications, ensuring seamless operations for student services, faculty tools, and administrative workflows. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to an educational environment where technology enhances learning and institutional efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain client-server applications using PowerBuilder, focusing on enhancements to existing higher education systems such as student information systems (SIS), course registration portals, and reporting tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT analysts, end-users (faculty, staff, and students), and stakeholders, to gather requirements and implement solutions tailored to educational needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, perform debugging, and optimize performance to minimize downtime during peak academic periods (e.g., registration and grading seasons).
• Integrate PowerBuilder applications with databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and third-party tools commonly used in higher education, such as ERP systems or learning management platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and documentation to ensure maintainable, scalable codebases.
• Support data migration and upgrades from legacy PowerBuilder environments to modern frameworks, as needed.
• Provide on-site technical support and training to end-users, promoting best practices for application usage in an academic setting.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in PowerBuilder development
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database management (e.g., querying, stored procedures).
• Strong understanding of client-server architecture and Windows-based application development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven ability to handle production support in fast-paced environments.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a higher education context.
• Local availability for on-site support as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education IT systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar SIS platforms).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of web services integration (e.g., REST/SOAP) for PowerBuilder applications.

• Certification in PowerBuilder or related technologies.
