Veterinary Assistant - Yuen Long

Responsibilities

• Feed, groom, and weigh animals, ensuring they receive the love and attention they need.

• Maintain a tidy clinic and ensure a safe environment by cleaning cages and bathing animals.

• Operate diagnostic equipment and manage surgical tools with confidence.

• Safely restrain animals for examinations and procedures.

• Provide first aid to pets in emergencies, stabilizing them until a veterinarian takes over.

• Administer medications as prescribed by our veterinarians.

• Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the vet.

• Reassure pet owners about their pets’ care and address any questions (e.g., appointment availability, insurance matters).

• Offer valuable resources and information to pet owners on animal care, specific conditions, and pre/post-procedure guidance.

• Adhere to hospital standards, rules, regulations, and policies.

• Assist with stock ordering and lab machine maintenance.

Requirements

• Experience: Up to 2 years in a Veterinary Assistant role or similar position is a plus.

• Animal Affinity: Comfortable working with various animals (cats, dogs, etc.).

• Customer Service Skills: Previous experience in administrative or customer service roles is advantageous.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Empathy: A patient and caring personality, able to show compassion to both pets and their owners.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions accurately and keep precise records.

• Physical Stamina: Meet the physical demands of the job and work well under pressure.

• Flexible Schedule: Willingness to work in shifts roster.

• Language Skills: Proficiency in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin is a plus.

• Education: High school diploma required; a Veterinary Assistant certification is preferred.
