職位描述

Coordinate with the Information Technology team to plan, organize, prioritize and schedule work resulting from network analysis, help desk calls, user requests, in accordance with the school’s IT goals, objectives and standards.

Responsible for providing moderately complex network analysis, design, support, testing, problem resolution and other activities for infrastructure operations, including mission-critical schoolwide networks and applications. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgment, and decision-making.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Network Infrastructure and Systems:

  • Maintain and support the schoolwide Network Infrastructure to ensure the smooth operation of the school’s IT infrastructure and minimize disruption and downtime to users.
  • Manage, optimize, and develop the network infrastructure and associated support services, including network switches, wireless access points, telecommunications, security, and Internet access. Evaluate, analyze, design, and implement new IT network infrastructure projects.

Hardware and Software Support:

  • Provide technical support on Network equipment including installation, administration, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Investigate problems in systems and services and assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventive measures including the maintenance of internal and outsourced I.T. systems and devices.
  • Maintain the VoIP service and digital phone service system, working with the service support provider in troubleshooting and setting up new users.
  • Manage network security equipment, including Palo Alto firewalls and other next-generation firewall appliances; prevent Internet attacks and minimize network security risks.

Research, Best Practices, and Training:

  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Team to research, tests, and recommend tools and utilities that may improve or enhance network performance, network reliability, and user support. With the IT Infrastructure Team, develop and/or recommend standards and improved procedures for technical initiatives and workflow, including analyzing infrastructure impacts. 
  • In collaboration with the IT Infrastructure Team, plan and oversee all network hardware and software acquisitions and corresponding installations to ensure that they are consistent with the school's systems and future plans. Acquire quotations from vendors for ad hoc repairs and network cabling requirements.
  • With the IT Infrastructure Team, effectively manage the allocated budget for schoolwide network infrastructure budget, forecasting projections, and ensuring procurement policies are followed. 

Equipment Maintenance, Inventory Control, and Documentation:

  • Responsible for systems maintenance and related logistics working with support staff and vendors to ensure equipment and devices are updated on a timely basis with minimum disruption to users. 
  • Monitor, fine-tune and report LAN/WAN, server, and workstation network utilization and performance data;
  • Document instructions and network diagrams for users and technical support staff.
  • With the Infrastructure Team, develop and document viable Maintenance Plans or Checklists for infrastructure-related projects and scheduled configuration changes.

Other Duties As Required:

  • Take an active role in your own development and work towards gaining industry-recognized certifications in the core products used by HKIS in addition to developing other technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordinate with other IT team members and Divisions to accomplish Infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake any other duties and functions as required, which will help impact and strengthen the contributions of the division and improve overall operations.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Skills:

  • University graduate with degree in Information Technology preferred
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies including WLAN
  • One or more Cisco certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE (in security and/or wireless discipline)
  • Knowledge of server and operating system technologies, particularly Windows desired
  • Knowledge of network and server monitoring technologies
  • Knowledge of security standards applicable to infrastructure operations
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto or Cisco firewalls highly desired
  • Familiarity with Juniper wireless networking desired

Experience:

  • At least two years experience with IT Infrastructure support, with some knowledge of server operating systems, cabling, LAN/WAN, telecommunication devices, network switches, routers, firewall and other IT utilities and tools
  • Knowledge of network (wired and wireless) and telecommunication resources, services, and applications
  • Experience performing network analysis, development, maintenance and support
  • Experience estimating, designing, testing and implementing network operational maintenance, changes, & upgrades
  • Experience working in an Active Directory and LDAP environment is preferred
  • Experience in supporting Apple and Microsoft products within the network
  • Familiar with Google Apps (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Drive, etc.) 

Personal Skills/Qualities:

  • Fluency in English, Cantonese is preferred but not essential
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills, ability to resolve issues independently
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, with minimum supervision
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, delegate and oversee the work of vendors
  • Familiarity Cisco or Juniper device administration
  • Knowledge of networking topology/technology
