Technical Officer in the Computing Services Centre [Ref. D/421/03]

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.

Duties

1. Assist in drafting papers for procurement and technical processes;
2. Assist in the administration, installation and support of software applications;
3. Assist in the administration and support of IT systems such as Print Quota System, VDI, MDM, MECM/SCCM, Windows, Windows Server, Apple macOS and Linux operating systems;
4. Coordinate various minor IT and AV Projects;
5. Perform daily operational activities including but not limited to handling incidents, service requests and implementing system changes according to CSC ITIL standards and procedures;
6. Involve in technology exploration and evaluation; and
7. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. An Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology or related disciplines, with at least 3 years’ post-qualification working experience;
2. Being proactive, eager to learn and well-organised with a strong sense of urgency and responsibility;
3. Practical experience working in technical support and system repair;
4. Good knowledge of word processing skills; and
5. Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese are required.
6. Knowledge of using various teaching and learning IT or AV hardware and software, as well as programming languages such as VBScript, PHP, .NET and Python would be an advantage.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
