Job Description:

Assist in operations of a state-of-the art animal facility, these may include:

• Animal husbandry and welfare in the assigned area
• Maintain records of colonies and experiments
• General facility housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment

Assist in quality assurance

• Creation and maintenance of quality documents
• Compliance: animal licenses and animal ethics approvals

Provide technical support to animal research projects

• Assist with procedure training and evaluation, planning experiment procedure
• Support researchers in performing the animal research

Perform other job-related duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in biological/biomedical sciences/microbiology or a related subject
• At least 2 years’ relevant experience working with laboratory rodents, skilled in procedures including sampling, substance administration, anaesthesia, and simple surgeries. Candidate with less experience may be offered an assistant technician or similar position.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese
• Self-motivated, can work independently with good time-management skills
• High sense of responsibility and teamwork
• Meticulous attention to quality and detail, can follow established procedures and record work accurately
• Undertake continuous training; and available for occasion shift duty for weekend/holidays
• Immediately available is highly preferred.

Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
