TITLE: SHOP SUPERVISOR
DIVISION: COMMERCIAL
RESPONSIBLE TO: DEPUTY DIRECTOR (COMMERCIAL & DEVELOPMENT)
ORGANISATIONAL MISSION
The HKMM is an independent, not-for-profit museum that aims to inspire people’s appreciation of their relationship with the sea. As a maritime museum within the Asia Pacific region, we preserve, showcase and commemorate the maritime culture and experiences of the people of Hong Kong; rooted in China, but looking to the world, reflecting Hong Kong’s unique history. Working in cooperation with the Hong Kong Government and the shipping community, HKMM operates an international standard maritime museum and research centre at Central, Pier 8.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The purpose of the position is to manage the daily operation of the Museum Shop, including procurement of sales items and souvenirs, support the front desk and to promote HKMM in handling visitors’ enquiries, selling tickets and introducing museum’s events and public programmes.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To manage the daily operation and staffing of the Museum Shop as well as the front desk.
2. To supervise, train and motivate teammates in achieving sales performance targets.
3. To liaise with consignment suppliers in all logistics arrangement.
4. To generate monthly reports and lead regular stock-taking.
5. To act as the ambassador of the Museum in greeting visitors and guests.
6. To assist in any ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned by the management.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Education
· Form 5 and above
Experience & Skills
§ At least 3 years’ retail sales experience, preferably 1 year’s experience in retail operation management .
§ Familiar with ticketing system and consignment management.
§ Good communication and interpersonal skills with customer service oriented mindset.
§ Good command of English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
§ Mature, organised, well-presented and responsible.
§ Passionate about maritime culture and heritage is a definite advantage.
§ Willing to work on roster, including weekends and Public Holidays.
§ Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, such as Excel and Outlook.
