Secondary Music Teacher (Part Time)

Designed from the ground up by passionate educators, engineers, and entrepreneurs, we aim to establish ourselves as one of the leading K-12 institutions in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area (GBA) in China, and Asia. Since the opening of our primary school, Bloom KKCA Academy (www.bloom.edu.hk) in 2021, we have implemented innovative practices, including bilingual, interdisciplinary project-based learning and have formed strong partnerships with organizations across various sectors. In August 2024, we established our secondary school Saint Too Bloom Academy on a separate campus nearby. In preparation, we ran a pilot secondary program from 2018 to 2021, which served as an incubation space for our school design and integration of innovation in our curriculum and unique applied learning programs. We have successfully prepared our pilot year senior cohorts for their A Levels and IGCSEs, while our current junior cohorts are following our school-based Key Stage 3 curriculum.

We are seeking qualified and experienced teachers to join the effort to develop our new secondary program launched in August 2024.

2. Position Overview

We seek a dynamic, enthusiastic and talented teacher of Secondary Music. The successful candidate will be able to help students understand music not just as the subject of academic study, but as a way of understanding themselves and their world.

The successful candidate will teach IGCSE Music to Grade 9. The successful candidate therefore needs a background in successfully preparing senior cohorts for external examinations.

As an inclusive program serving a range of learners, the position will suit teachers who thrive in diverse classrooms and professionally collaborative cultures.

3. Person Specification

Essential

• BSc in music or related field
• Valid teaching certification;
• Experience preparing students for IGCSE. Working experience of other curricula such as DSE, A-Level, AP and IB are a strong advantage;
• Native or near-native English and strong written and spoken communication skills. As our school will be bilingual, Putonghua is a must;

• A commitment to innovative and future-focused education including project-based learning.
