About the Role
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of construction projects.
As part of the Campus Development Office (CDO), the appointee will collaborate with university stakeholders—including schools, departments, faculty, and students—to define project objectives and engage external consultants as needed. Acting as the key coordinator, the appointee will bridge communication between consultants and university users throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that goals are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end management of construction projects, including land use applications, conceptual design, procurement, and contractor supervision.
- Ensure real-time project reporting, tracking progress in terms of budget, schedule, and quality.
- Escalate critical issues to senior management for timely decision-making.
- Supervise and support Assistant Project Managers in delivering enhancement projects.
- Provide recommendations to align campus developments with the University’s Strategic Plan, fostering an inspirational, sustainable, accessible, and safe environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in the construction industry.
- Membership in a recognized professional organization (e.g., HK Institute of Architects, HK Institution of Engineers, HK Institute of Surveyors).
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Competence in construction industry software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects successfully—delivering quality outcomes on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with Hong Kong’s statutory processes is essential; experience with PRC and overseas projects is a plus.
Additional Information
- Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Assistant Project Manager position.
- Contract Duration: 2 years.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
