Principal Engineer - Mechanical / Associate Director (MEP - Data Centers)

The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of complex data center projects. This position is for a technical expert who will be the mechanical lead on major projects, responsible for guiding design teams, interfacing with clients, and ensuring the highest standards of technical excellence are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the mechanical (HVAC) design development for large-scale data center projects from concept design through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
• Perform and review critical engineering calculations including cooling load (using HAP or similar), hydraulic analysis, and equipment sizing.
• Act as the main mechanical point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, etc.) on assigned projects.
• Develop and review technical specifications, design drawings, and RFQ/RFP packages for mechanical systems and equipment.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys, and provide solutions to site-based technical challenges.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and graduate engineers.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant ASHRAE standards, Uptime Institute Tiers, and local Hong Kong building codes and regulations.
• Contribute to the innovation of our design processes, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and reducing PUE.

Requirements:

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Professional membership (e.g., HKIE, CIBSE, ASHRAE) or working towards chartership is highly preferred.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in mechanical building services design.
  • At least 4-5 years of proven, hands-on experience specifically in the mechanical design of data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Demonstrable experience leading the mechanical package on projects of significant scale (>5MW IT load).
