IT Systems & Software Support Specialist

IMS is seeking an IT Systems & Software Support Specialist to maintain and enhance our in-house finance system (built using Visual Basic) while also providing general IT support across the school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system troubleshooting, minor development work, and IT support tasks including hardware and software setup, and user support for teachers and administrative staff.

This role is perfect for a tech-savvy professional with strong programming, troubleshooting, and IT support skills who is eager to learn and work with legacy systems while also contributing to an international school IT environment. Prior experience with Visual Basic is not required, but a strong aptitude for learning new (and old) technologies is essential.
 

Key Responsibilities

1. Software & System Support (Finance System - Visual Basic)

• Maintain and support the in-house finance system (legacy system built in Visual Basic)
• Troubleshoot system bugs, errors, and performance issues to ensure smooth operation
• Implement small enhancements
• Database Administration like support data validation and reconciliation controls
• Learn and document existing system architecture to ensure future sustainability
• Work with finance and operations teams to improve system workflows

2. General IT Support & Administration

• Provide day-to-day IT support for teachers, staff, and administrative teams
• Assist with setting up and troubleshooting laptops, printers, and classroom technology
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to school systems
• Coordinate with external IT vendors for specialized technical issues

Qualifications & Experience

Must-Have:

• Certificate/ Diploma in Computer Science or related disciplines
• Experience with software development, debugging, and troubleshooting
• Experience with SQL and Database Administration with Database like MySQL, SQLServer, Oracle … etc
• Experience in PC hardware /software installation and support with Windows based systems
• Strong IT support skills, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues
• Experience in software/ systems like Google Workspace, Adobe Photoshop, Apple MacOS, Linux, or any Information System like ERP, Sales, Purchasing or Accounting will be an advantage
• Ability to work independently, willing to learn and with good communication skills (English and Cantonese)
• Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills
• Ability to document processes and assist non-technical staff
