IT Systems Manager

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Project / Programme Manager working across the company’s IT programme, including an ambitious programme of a) modernizing and improving and b) implementing new solutions and software integrations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company’s IT framework, mapping the existing structure, developing and managing the overall programme improvement plan and working closely with our commercial, technical, finance and HR teams, as well as senior stakeholders to make that plan happen.

Going forward, you will be working with a diverse team of people with different skillsets, located in different regions, to deliver one international, seamless result.

Responsibilities

             1. Owning and Driving Forward Programme Plans & Budgets:

• Defining requirements and delivery plans with the heads of departments to which the software relates
• Delivering on the plans across the digital programme covering multiple projects, working closely with internal and 3rd party vendor teams
• Proactively managing project and programme risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies – being clear on the available options and associated consequences in delivering plans
• Assisting with the preparation of and managing financial forecasts for the programme plan on a regular basis
• Managing partnerships with 3rd party vendors including handling contracts
• Developing and ensuring adherence to internal project management process, tools and templates

Once implemented, managing each program to ensure it is working properly, delivering as promised and is fit for purpose

           2. Stakeholder Management & Communication:

• Working closely with both senior management and end users to understand needs and available resources, and how best to deliver innovative solutions to meet and exceed expectations
• Develop business cases to ensure that there is clarity on the benefits expected and these can be measured simply
• Being able to communicate clearly, concisely and confidently across all levels
• Thinking through problems in a logical, structured format

           3. Team Working & Thought Leadership:

• Working in close collaboration across all internal IT team members and 3rd party vendors
• Providing support and coaching to others – sharing experience around project management

Requirements

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Technology and/or equivalent;
• Experience in handling a complex programme/portfolio of IT Change projects undergoing digital transformation
• Ability to prepare detailed plans from scratch, actively manage significant risks / issues
• Ability to influence and communicate effectively with others across the IT team and senior executives
• Demonstration of working in a team to support others to run projects effectively - focused on delivering the best outcome on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards
• Proven vendor management experience – handling contracts and dealing with multiple vendors
• Implementation of project management best practices by defining templates and working with others to ensure these are followed to better manage projects
• Fluent communication skills in spoken and written English
• Working experience of shipping/logistics software and its implementation is required for this role.
