Duties
Reporting to the Coaching Secretary, the Head Junior Orienteering Coach will be responsible part of the job duties with description, but not limited to, listed below:
- To be responsible for overseeing and executing the planning and coaching of the OAHK Squads setting out structured, innovative and challenging sessions to achieve optimal performance;
- To establish an annual training plan for the OAHK Squads according to the goals of the OAHK;
- To assist the Coaching Secretary on conducing the Annual Assessment on performance for each squad coaches of every squad teams;
- To assist recruitment of squad coaches;
- To lead and liaise with the OAHK Squad coaches and OAHK staff members;
- To work with athletes and other coaches to develop and implement personal development plans with individual athletes and provide on-going feedback to the athletes;
- To support the athletes in establishing performance targets and the criteria used to assess development;
- To oversee and conduct local/overseas training camps;
- To attend and provide quality coaching at major competitions;
- To report to the Coaching Secretary on the progress and performance analysis of the squad;
- To facilitate in the selection of the Hong Kong Teams;
- To ensure that information about the training and competition programme is provided to athletes on a timely and regular basis;
- To be responsible for administrative matters related to local and overseas squad training and competitions;
- To contribute towards the overall development of coach education programmes which promote the development of local coaches;
- To contribute to in-house and general media publications as requested;
- Ad hoc assignments in relation to coaching upon mutual agreement achieved.
Requirements
- Holder of a recognized coaching qualification equivalent to Hong Kong Coach Accreditation Programme Level 2 Certificate or above;
- Level 2 or 3 Coach of the OAHK;
- Excellent interpersonal/ analytical/ evaluation/ planning skills; High level of computer literacy; Strong links with international Orienteering bodies;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issue in the context of Hong Kong.
