Saint Francis University (SFU), formerly Caritas Francis Hsu College, commenced operation in 1985. It became a university of applied sciences (UAS) in November 2024. SFU aims to nurture students with practical skills and knowledge through applied degree and other professional education and training (VPET) programmes, blending theory and practice with substantial workplace learning and assessment, having flexibilities in curriculum design, admission and delivery mode, and having recognition and support from industries and professions. At present, SFU has five academic schools offering programmes at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) Levels 4 to 6.

Rita Tong Liu School of Business and Hospitality Management (SBHM) prides itself in offering professional education in various areas of business and hospitality and instilling positive life values in students. Our full-time and part-time programmes enable them to gain learning experience closely aligned with industry needs, market demand, as well as economic, societal, and technological development.

The BBA (Hons) programme has 4 streams – Accounting and Financial Analytics (AFA), Corporate Management and Governance (CMG), Marketing and Event Management (MEM), and General. It has gained professional recognition from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), CPA Australia, and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI). AFA and CMG graduates are granted exemption status equivalent to that of graduates from other local universities. The Bachelor of Entrepreneurial Management (Honours) in Design Business (BEMDB) is a top-up interdisciplinary programme aimed at nurturing entrepreneurs in design and innovative businesses. Graduates may also take up project/brand/segment start-up positions in the design or creative industry. BBA and BEMDB programmes will be revamped into applied degree programmes.

The BBA (Hons) in Applied Hotel and Tourism Management (BBA-AHTM) is an applied degree programme under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) where students are subsidised by the government. Relevant work experience can be considered during admission and students complete a 9-month internship before graduation.

The Master of Corporate Governance (MCG) is the first postgraduate programme offered by SFU. Graduates of this 1.5-year part-time programme are eligible for full exemption from HKCGI’s Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme. The Postgraduate Diploma in Private Banking and Family Office prepares working professionals to excel in wealth management and family office services.

Duties

The appointee will be responsible for teaching at sub-degree, undergraduate, and/or postgraduate levels in more than one subject area in addition to undertaking scholarly/research activities and programme/course administration.

Appointment Criteria

For Assistant Professor, applicants should have (a) a PhD or other recognised doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; and (b) relevant teaching/professional experience. Preference will be given to those who have a good record in teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes, experience in programme management and accreditation, and a proven research record. Applicants may be considered for the rank of Associate Professor or above depending on research record, experience, and qualifications.

For Senior Lecturer, a Master’s degree and professional membership in Hong Kong or overseas will be considered as appropriate for the particular disciplines.

A good command of English is required and proficiency in Chinese is preferable.

In addition to the above, applicants should have at least three years of supervisory or managerial industry experience.
