Deputy Head of Lower School (Academic)

Harrow International School Hong Kong is seeking a dynamic and visionary educator to become our next Deputy Head of Lower School (Academic).This is a pivotal senior leadership role with strategic responsibility for academic excellence, pastoral care, and boarding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Lower School in developing and delivering the strategic vision for academics in the Lower School.
• Lead the team of Curriculum Coordinators to ensure a robust, innovative curriculum and high-quality teaching through observations and learning walks.
• Line manage Curriculum Coordinators, motivate colleagues, and liaise on professional development to build a high-performing team.
• Develop best practices in assessment and tracking, working to monitor pupil progress and implement effective interventions.
• Organise teacher timetables, manage staff absence cover, and support the pupil admissions testing process.
• Work closely with Upper School academic leaders to ensure smooth pupil transitions and share best teaching practices.
• Coordinate and deliver parent workshops to develop their role as partners in their child's learning.
• Deputise for the Head of Lower School and contribute to strategic decisions in Whole School and Lower School SLT meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A good honours degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification (including QTS).
• A proven track record of successful leadership and impact on whole-school academic outcomes.
• An outstanding classroom teacher with experience in managing or within an academic department.

Skills & Knowledge:

• A genuine passion for Lower School education and a commitment to high standards in teaching and learning.
• An inspirational leader with the ability to motivate, support pupils and colleagues, and lead by example.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with up-to-date knowledge of innovative curriculum developments.
• A strong commitment to pupil wellbeing and pastoral care, ensuring the best educational experience for all.
