Korean International School (KIS) is a private, independent school with over 800 students representing more than 30 nationalities. We provide a British-style academic education tailored for the English-speaking community in Hong Kong, fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Job Title: Assistant Finance Manager 

Key Responsibilities 

Full Set of Accounts Management 

    Manage the school’s full set of accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
    Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.

School Fee Overdue Follow-Up 

    Collaborate closely with the cashier to monitor the outstanding fees.
    Assist in resolving long-overdue payments efficiently.

Purchase Requisition Review 

    Review and verify purchase requisitions to ensure alignment with the school’s budget and financial policies.
    Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
    Monitor and track expenses related to purchase requisitions to avoid over-budgeting.

Data Migration and System Transition 

    Lead and coordinate the migration of financial data to the new accounting system.
    Provide troubleshooting and support during the implementation of the new system.
    Develop and implement new processes and workflows to optimize the use of the new system.

Expense Policy Management 

    Maintain and update the school’s expense policy to ensure it reflects current financial regulations, regularly communicate policy updates to staff and provide clear guidance on compliance.
    Monitor staff adherence to the expense policy and address any irregularities.

Financial Compliance and Internal Controls 

    Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the school’s financial assets.
    Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including audits and tax filings.
    Monitor and improve financial policies, procedures, and practices.

Team Collaboration and Reporting 

    Work closely with the school leadership team to provide financial insights for decision-making.
    Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders.

Other Duties 

    Assist in ad hoc financial projects and other tasks as assigned by school management.

Requirements 

Education and Qualifications 

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.

Experience 

    At least 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
    Proven track record of managing a full set of accounts, including budgets, audits, and tax filings.
    Hands-on experience with data migration and transitioning to new financial systems.
    Knowledge of local financial regulations and tax laws.

Technical Skills 

    Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems. Knowledge of Xero is an advantage.
    Well versed in Microsoft Office and highly proficient in MS Excel spreadsheet.
    Familiarity with system implementation and process improvement.

Language Skills 

    Proficiency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
    Knowledge of Korean is preferable and considered a plus
