Job Description

Company Background

Established in January 2020, the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) is a statutory regulatory body established under the Travel Industry Ordinance (Cap. 634) (Ordinance). It is primarily responsible for the licensing and regulation of travel agents, tourist guides and tour escorts. TIA is also responsible for promoting the integrity, competence and professionalism of the travel industry practitioners and regulating shops that inbound tour groups are arranged to patronise. In addition, it is responsible for managing the Travel Industry Compensation Fund which provides protection for outbound travellers purchasing outbound packages.


Members of TIA are appointed by the Chief Executive in accordance with the Ordinance. TIA is to consist of the Chairperson, the Vice-chairperson (the Commissioner for Tourism) and not more than 28 ordinary members from various sectors of Hong Kong.


With the implementation of the new regulatory regime under the Ordinance, TIA takes over the regulatory and licensing functions from the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and former Travel Agents Registry.


Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to Assistant Manager (Finance) or above, the incumbent will assume the following duties:

  1. Process applications for ex gratia payments under the Travel Industry Compensation Fund (TICF);
  2. Handle enquiries including calls and emails related to the TICF applications and e-Levy system;
  3. Monitor pending applications to ensure follow-up actions are taken timely;
  4. Provide on-going support before, during and after ex gratia payments;
  5. Prepare TICF monthly reports and statistical reports;
  6. Assist the supervisor in the review and update of procedures and operation flows of TICF to improve operating efficiency;
  7. Ensure strict compliance with legislative requirements and control procedures;
  8. Perform daily accounting operations, billings, invoices and staff reimbursements;
  9. Maintain full set of accounting books, ensure proper calculation, classification and accounting method are used; and
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.


Requirements:

  1. Holder of a university degree preferably in business or accounting with no less than 4 years of work experience, or holder of a higher diploma/ associate degree with no less than 6 years of work experience;
  2. Experience in Customer Services is preferable;
  3. Good command of written & spoken Chinese and English and proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage;
  4. Responsible, self-motivated, mature and able to work independently with good interpersonal and communication skills; and
  5. Experience in travel industry is an advance.
  6. Candidate with education level and work experience less than required will be considered as Assistant Officer.

This employment with the Travel Industry Authority shall be with a fixed term of three years contractual period. The offer of further employment beyond the Term will be solely at the discretion of the Travel Industry Authority.
