The College includes Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering and Ng Teng Fong · Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute. The College is registered as an Approved Post Secondary College under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320), with all degree programmes accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).

The Vice President (Academic and Research) assists the President of the College to be responsible for overseeing particular areas of institutional review, academic development, research, student enrolment and affairs, with the goal of significantly enhancing the quality of the College’s teaching and research. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate is expected to possess/ be:

  1. a doctoral degree or equivalent;
  2. a proven track record in teaching, research, and service comparable with that of a full professor (chair professor preferable);
  3. proficiency in English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese an advantage);
  4. an academic leader preferably in science, engineering or business discipline;
  5. experience in leadership role in prestigious higher education institution(s) (in Hong Kong an advantage);
  6. abundant experience in providing effective leadership to academic units, including the overseeing of the development of academic strategy and its implementation, and institutional review; academic budget planning and allocation; grants submission processes and management.

The candidate for the Vice President (Academic and Research) must share the College’s Vision to build the College a prominent private university of international standing recognized for its contribution towards quality higher education and service to the community through the advancement and application of knowledge. 

 

He/She shall:

  1. provide academic strategic vision and dynamic leadership in institutional review, curriculum and programme development; advance the teaching and learning environment; and promote innovative and scholarly activities.
  2. work with the President/ Interim President in providing effective academic leadership and strong administrative oversight, as well as developing outstanding academic talents with prudent resource allocation and management.
  3. facilitate international, interdisciplinary, and inter-institutional collaborations to advance undergraduate and postgraduate education, and expand the training and employment horizons of students.
  4. lead innovations, collaborations, and excellence in teaching and learning, scholarship research activities and Research-Academic-Industry synergy.
  5. ensure that the best interests of the College’s students are well served in all matters and decisions.
  6. undertake such other duties as may be assigned by the President.
