Data Center Engineer

Computacenter Hong Kong is looking for a qualified DCS engineer to join our dynamic team of IT professionals in a leading financial institution with an international network of offices in all major financial centres of the world. The preferred candidates should have worked in a large enterprise managed services environment preferably in the financial industry or have similar experience with the banking sector.

Responsibilities

• Installation, termination and testing of DC interlink cabling ie CAT-5e, CAT-6 6A, fibre optic
• Responsible for all data cable infrastructure installs - UTP, OM3/OM4 and single mode fibre
• Installation, maintenance and lifecycle of the whole trunk-infrastructure across building backbone
• Fault- finding of network cabling within Datacentre/Technology Rooms, able to trace and test connections and resolving issues. Fault finding with OTDR, Fluke testing equipment
• Provide onsite support using Fluke testing equipment to test all new and suspect cable connections
• Supporting of LAN & WAN Infrastructure components, structured cabling
• Install, label and test Patch cables according to work order requests
• Liaise with Team Leads and schedule cabling infrastructure works according to prioritization
• Update ServiceNow queue with ticket resolution information
• Regular scanning of equipment in Technology Rooms/Datacentres
• Installation (rack & stack & cabling) of network equipment and servers

Essential Skills & Experience

• The ideal candidate will need to have knowledge of data cabling with experience of (CAT-5e, CAT-6 6A, and fibre optic), able to terminate patch panels floor boxes and wall panels with proven accreditations and experience
• Commscope Networking certified
• Basic understanding of network VLAN's and IP addressing
• Have good knowledge of fault-finding with OTDR and Fluke testing equipment
• Good knowledge of cabling products of manufacturer's i.e. Commscope, Anixter, Corning, etc.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Good knowledge of cabling products of manufacturer's i.e. Commscope, Anixter, Corning etc.
• Knowledge of end user ticketing tool ServiceNow including updating, forwarding, and closing of tickets
• Good knowledge of Asset Point
• Good Excel skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer orientation, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a team are important
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Positive attitude, ready to help all support teams with cabling related issues
